Georgia lawyers’ PAC welcomes attorney

CANTON — Jonathan Pope, partner at Hasty Pope LLP in Canton, has been appointed to the board of directors for the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association Civil Justice Political Action Committee.

Civil Justice PAC is the political arm of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. It serves as a bipartisan organization striving to ensure public safety and justice for all Georgians.

“For more than 20 years, the Civil Justice PAC has worked to be a resource to legislators and a voice for the people of Georgia at the State Capitol,” Pope said. “I’m honored to be asked to serve on the board of directors.”

During the 2011 legislative session, the Civil Justice PAC and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association worked on several issues including defeating blanket immunity for hospitals treating the mentally ill and stopping legislation that would have denied injured undocumented workers the right to workers’ compensation benefits.

Earlier this year, Pope was recognized in Georgia’s Top Rated Lawyers in 2012, published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Wall Street Journal.

He was named a “Rising Star” in 2006, 2009 and 2010 in Atlanta Magazine’s “Superlawyers” edition and he was recognized in Georgia Trend’s list of “Legal Elite” in 2010.

Pope also serves as regional vice president of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and is a former president of the Young Lawyers Division and Executive Committee member of the State Bar of Georgia.

In his trial practice, Pope said he focuses on a wide range of personal injury matters, including wrongful death, catastrophic injuries and automobile and tractor trailer collisions.
